Players sometimes reach a point in their careers where they need to make a change. This can happen when they are part of a talented team but struggle to stand out.

A recent example of this is what happened with Tyler Benson and the Edmonton Oilers. Benson, who was selected as the 32nd overall pick in the 2016 entry draft, decided to leave the Oilers and join the Vegas Golden Knights.

Tough Start in the NHL

His performance in the NHL has been less impressive than expected considering his high draft position. Benson, 25 years old, played 38 games in the NHL and scored three points. Also, he has a -6 plus/minus.

During his three seasons with the Bakersfield Condors, Benson's performance declined each year, which was unexpected given the high hopes people had for him.

Now, as Benson begins a new chapter with the Vegas Golden Knights, he will be playing for their affiliate team, the Henderson Silver Knights, in the AHL.

Hopefully, this change of scenery will reignite his passion for the game and lead him towards a successful career.

As seen on Oilers Daily - Oilers lose depth to the Golden Knights.
