In hockey games, we've all seen those long face-offs between a strong defender near the net and an eager forward waiting for the puck to start moving.

It's a test of patience, with the defender holding onto the puck and the forward trying to guess what the defender will do next.

Well, the Kontinental Hockey League has decided to stop players from holding onto the puck for too long with a new rule. They're speeding up the game by not allowing a player to keep possession of the puck for more than three seconds.

Coming to the NHL?

Opinions are divided on whether the NHL should also adopt this rule. At first, it seems like a good idea to make the game faster. However, there is a risk that players might use this rule to their advantage, like making quick changes in their team lineup.

Despite this possibility, the NHL should seriously consider implementing this rule. When defenders hold onto the puck for too long behind the net, it wastes valuable game time.

If the NHL adopts this rule, it could make the game more exciting and fast-paced, just like fans expect. It would be a big step forward for the sport. Let's wait to see if Gary Bettman will think so too.
