The Winnipeg Jets' recent elimination from the 2023 Stanley Cup Playoffs has led to a plethora of decisions that must be made by the team. Notably, core veterans Blake Wheeler and Mark Scheifele will become unrestricted free agents at the end of next year, and prized goaltender Connor Hellebuyck has just one year left on his contract. Hellebuyck, who is 29 years old, is contemplating his future with the team.

Despite his desire to compete, Hellebuyck has made it clear that he is not interested in a rebuild, stating,

"I enjoyed myself more in 5 (playoff) games than I did all year. It's like a high you gotta' chase. You can't replicate that anywhere else except in the playoffs."

His ultimate goal is to win a Stanley Cup, but with his age, time is running out for him as a starting goaltender.

If the team cannot guarantee that they will avoid losing key players like Wheeler, Scheifele, and Hellebuyck for nothing, the latter may not be able to remain with the team. The team's hope of winning now will be difficult to achieve if they do not take action by next year's deadline. Therefore, the Jets face a tough situation ahead and the upcoming offseason is expected to be interesting.
