The Habs haven't finished improving their medical staff to help players injure themselves less often and less severely.

Hires have already been made in this direction, and today there's a new skin in the game. Dr. Mulder is stepping down after 60 years with the organization.

"Firstly, Dr. David Mulder is retiring after a remarkable 60-year career with the organization, and has been awarded emeritus status, allowing him to continue in a consulting capacity. He will be replaced by Dr. Dan Deckelbaum, who becomes Chief Medical Officer, while Dr. Thierry Pauyo becomes the Club's Chief Orthopedic Surgeon. In addition, Matthew Moore has been hired as massage therapist, Daniel Chammas has been promoted to assistant athletic therapist and Marie-Pierre Néron has been hired to replace him in Laval as assistant athletic therapist with the Rocket."

- Montreal Canadiens

Of course, Dr. Mulder wouldn't have lost his job if it hadn't been for his retirement. It's fair to say it's richly deserved.

"On behalf of the entire organization, I would like to warmly thank Dr. David Mulder for all his years of service with the Canadiens.

Dr. Mulder has dedicated his entire life to our organization. We will miss his passion, his professionalism and the way he treated others. I also want to take this time to congratulate Dr. Dan Deckelbaum on this well-deserved promotion." - Geoff Molson
