It is well known in the hockey world now, the legendary Serge Savard was very disappointed with Marc Bergevin and his management of the Habs. After being part of Bergevin's selection process in 2012, Savard revealed that the former CH big man accomplished the exact opposite of what he had mentioned during his job interviews. While appearing on the most recent episode of Tony Marinaro's The Sick Podcast, the former Habs number 18 went back to the topic and gave more explanation on what really happened. The latter even admitted that he still has the interview at home. It is obviously something that would be very interesting to watch, but that's another subject. Here's what Savard had to say about Bergevin and his interview to become GM of the Montreal Canadiens: I still have his presentation here. He did pretty much the opposite of everything he said and believe me, after a couple of interviews, Geoff Molson and I looked at each other, we were in New York, we went to dinner afterwards. Well, I think he's the best candidate we have and we stopped the process at that point. I had high hopes for him. If I voted against him, he wouldn't have gotten the job. Geoff Molson had the final say, but if I'm against him, he [Marc Bergevin] doesn't get it. - Serge Savard Clearly, the man who was the GM for the Tricolore during the conquests of 1986 and 1993 was particularly disappointed by Bergevin's tenure. However, where it gets interesting is the question that followed by Marinaro. Assuming Savard votes against Bergevin, the host asked him who the organization's second choice was. The guy in Tampa Bay [Julien BriseBois]! He had a pretty good record. He was second to Tampa Bay at the time and he was good. He did a very good interview, but in the end we chose Marc Bergevin. - Serge Savard It must be said that BriseBois would have been a very high quality pick. The latter is one of the main contributors to the success of the Tampa Bay Lightning. Although some would say that Steve Yzerman was a GM when the club was built, the Quebec manager was the former Detroit Red Wings glory's go-to guy. BriseBois was Yzerman's most trusted man and Yzerman swore by his assistant GM. For those who don't remember, BriseBois was the general manager of the Canadiens school team, with whom he won the Calder Cup in 2007, before being hired by the Lightning as Yzerman's right-hand man in 2010. However, as my colleague Mathieu Charbonneau of Habs and NHL mentions, BriseBois had an escape clause in his contract at the time that stipulated he could leave Tampa Bay, but only for the Tricolore GM position. Imagine what the CH could have become under BriseBois, one of the best general managers in the NHL. It could have changed the course of history. Fortunately, now with Kent Hughes, the organization seems to be headed in the right direction.

Credit: HabsetLNH.com
