Defenseman Evan Bouchard has been on a roll this season, especially in the playoffs, accumulating 17 points in 12 games. The 23-year-old fullback will be a free agent with compensation on July 1, and the Oilers are so tight under the salary cap that Ken Holland will have a hard time getting along with him. Whistleblower Frank Seravalli discussed the possibility of Bouchard receiving an offer sheet, and targeted the Habs directly. Kent Hughes has plenty of room under the salary cap, and he needs right-handed defensemen who can help on the power play.

Frank Seravalli lists the #GoHabsGo as a team who could offer sheet Evan Bouchard.

He quickly ads he doesn't think they'll actually do it, just that they could (cap space/need) and have some experience in the offer sheet space.- Andrew (@EhMarchand) June 16, 2023
It makes a lot of sense, but I personally doubt Kent Hughes would do anything like this. If the Habs GM decides to do it, the Oilers would definitely have a hard time matching the offer. To be continued...
