The announcement of the next captain of the Montreal Canadiens is eagerly awaited. The most plausible candidates seem to be Nick Suzuki, Joel Edmundson and Brendan Gallagher, but no one can really say which of the three will wear the famous "C".

In an interview on Chris Nilan's The Raw Knuckles podcast, Nick Suzuki had this to say:

"We have a ton of guys who could wear the ''C'' and be great captains! I have tremendous respect for all my teammates. I think of Gally [Gallagher]; he would be an incredible captain if he got the ''C''. But, if it was me, I would definitely be up for it. I think I've already learned a lot in my last three years here." -Nick Suzuki

Despite his young age, the team's No. 1 center says he's mature enough to take on the role of captain. If nothing else, the pressure doesn't scare him.

"I think the fans expect a lot from the team. This has been a winning franchise for so long and they don't expect anything less. Besides, that's what the players want to win games. I think everyone on the team has some pressure to do well, but obviously some have more than others. I've always been a guy who puts pressure on myself. However, I know when I'm not playing well and I don't let the media or outside noise affect my game." -Nick Suzuki

When asked about media pressure, Nick admits that it is omnipresent in Montreal, but that they are just doing their job. He feels he handled it well last season and will continue to do so.
