Drafted by the Canadiens in 2014 and developed by the organization, it's fair to say that Jake Evans has come a long way. The center-forward has now earned his full-time place in the NHL, but is his future really in Montreal? There are currently too many forwards and too many players who can play center for the Habs. According to Edmonton journalist Kurt Leavins, Evans would be a prime target for the Oilers, who are looking for a 3rd- or 4th-row center. There are plenty of Jake Evans in the NHL, but he's signed for just 1.7 million for two more years, which is becoming very attractive. Plus, we know what a hard worker he is, and he'd be a great help to the Oilers in defensive duties. It makes a lot of sense. There's no doubt that Kent Hughes must find solutions to decongest the Canadiens' attack. There are currently 15 contracts and Jesse Ylonen is still unsigned, plus some youngsters could surprise and force management's hand at training camp. With his salary and usefulness, Evans is certainly not the first candidate on Kent Hughes' list to let go. Nevertheless, he will have to make decisions for the good of the team, such as leaving Evans' position to Owen Beck, for example.

Sunday!
