For almost 15 years, the Montreal Canadiens' performances have been almost directly linked to those of Carey Price. When number 31 was injured or in a bad situation, the team fell apart every time. Since the CH will be in the Stanley Cup Final in 2021, we still can't clearly name a number one goalie in Montreal. Jake Allen seems to be the candidate, but his performances have been up and down and Samuel Montembeault has been playing well since the beginning of the campaign. Also, there is no real quality backup at the position with the Tricolore and we are one injury away from a goaltender in trouble. If we look at the KHL, there is a 27 year old goaltender that is turning a lot of heads right now. Nikita Serebryakov has remarkable statistics and has never been drafted. He currently has a .949 save percentage and a 1.64 GAA.

His contract is up this season and it wouldn't be surprising if NHL teams were scrambling for his services. Kent Hughes will certainly have to find out for himself, as it is not a rosy picture at this position with the Tricolore.
