In his end-of-season review of the Habs, Kent Hughes said a few words that were much appreciated by Montreal Canadiens fans. Defeat is no longer an option, and the GM intends to do everything in his power to have a competitive team on the ice.

To do so, the Habs will certainly need reinforcements via the trade market or independent players. Here are four players who could be targeted at a reasonable price, according to Marco D'Amico of Mtl Hockey Now :

- Kaapo Kakko

- Viktor Arvidsson

- Alex Newhook

- Tyson Barrie

The salary cap is a major issue in New York. There is little money available for far too many players to sign. It's a safe bet that management will want to trade salary for draft picks.

With the Kings, the situation is somewhat similar to New York's, but not as bad. However, there are several young players to sign and Arvidsson could very well be sacrificed.

Alex Newhook compares himself to Kirby Dach. He hasn't lived up to the Avalanche's expectations of him since he was drafted. A change of scenery with a team where he'll have the chance to assert himself on a top 6 could be very beneficial for him.

Tyson Barrie is a specialist on the power play. He totalled 55 points last season and would be quite an upgrade over Chris Wideman.
