The renowned Frank Seravalli announced today that the San Jose Sharks have placed forward Kevin Labanc on waivers. This decision surprised many fans, as Labanc is an experienced player with a $4.725 million contract and an average of 0.5 points per game in 432 career games.

"Sources say San Jose will place forward Kevin Labanc on the waivers today.

Labanc was left out of San Jose's three games earlier this year. He's in the final year of his $4.725 million contract and has maintained a 0.5 points-per-game average in 432 career games."

However, the situation took an unexpected turn when Seravalli revealed that Labanc would have to play for the Sharks after all tonight.

"After informing Labanc's camp that he would be placed on waivers today, turn of events! Labanc should now play for the Sharks tonight."

Obviously, this raises questions about the source of the initial information and suggests that Labanc was potentially available for a trade.

What's more, the Sharks could still decide to waive him in the future.
