Today, Bruce Boudreau's successor as head coach of the Vancouver Canucks is all but certain. It was a messy process, but a recent revelation suggests that it might have been even worse. Boudreau's contract had an option for a second year where he might have accepted or rejected the position. The Canucks wouldn't have had to pay him if he had resigned as head coach, but because he was let go, they do. Boudreau will be then added onto the coaching payroll for the Canucks, joining his former predecessor Travis Greene and newly appointed head coach Rick Tocchet. Relevant info for this Canucks mess. If the Canucks didn't keep Boudreau, they would still need to pay him, meaning they would be paying for three head coaches in 2022-23 (Travis Green, Boudreau, new guy). I'm guessing they tried to avoid that by getting Boudreau to quit.

Another classless move by one of the worse managed organizations in the league.
