Connor Bedard eclipsed all competition to win player of the tournament honors at the World Junior Hockey Championship.

With his 14 goals and 23 points, he was 9 ahead of his nearest challenger, Logan Cooley. Asked about his stats after the gold-medal win, he immediately said that he shouldn't talk about himself, that it was the whole team that won the medal and worked hard.

This statement made the rounds on the web, and it was already becoming clear that the young man is truly special and a quality human being.

Recently, he followed up with another humbling statement:

"I'd be so tired of hearing about myself, if I were a fan. There's been way too much about me, articles, interviews and everything. I've barely played a game in the NHL.

There are so many other good players who deserve to be talked about."

- Connor Bedard

Indeed, the most recent first overall pick is getting a lot of attention, and that's to be expected, but not for him. Many good players deserve this attention, in his opinion.

We know without a shadow of a doubt that Bedard is quite a leader and a unifier. He'll have a great career, and he'll be the next captain of the Chicago Blackhawks.
