The Edmonton Oilers start to the 2023-24 season has left a lot to be desired, but while some players are taking shots at their coach, the rest of the team are looking to stick together.

Troubles in net?

One of the biggest issues for the Oilers this year has been their defence, and unfortunately for their goaltending, this leads to them having very little chance and taking plenty of criticism on the back of that.

Unfortunately, their latest loss to the Winnipeg Jets came with a highlight of a mistake from Stuart Skinner in net, leading to a key goal that would result in a major Oilers loss on the road.

Sticking up for his goaltender

After the game, star Leon Draisaitl was asked about it, with the reporter seemingly baiting him into badmouthing Skinner, but like the leader he is, Draisaitl had a fantastic response.

What do you want me to say to him?" asked a visibly annoyed Draisaitl. "He made a mistake, big deal. Nothing to say to him, we all make mistakes.

Ultimately, it's just been five games, so there's plenty of time to turn it around, and if they stick it out together, they're a team full of confidence, but if they can't fix these issues, it could be a disappointing campaign.
