Kent Hughes really doesn't seem closed to the idea of trading the Panthers' pick if the offer is right. On this subject, the excellent Marc-Olivier Beaudoin took the pulse of the Canadiens to find out which players would be of interest to Canadiens fans in exchange for this pick.

And 4 names come up very often.

First, there is Pierre-Luc Dubois. It's not complicated, everyone wants Dubois to come to Montreal. If the CH can secure his services this summer for the Panthers' first round pick, there probably wouldn't be many unhappy. Then there are two young goalies. And that is indeed an avenue that should be evaluated by Kent Hughes. This is the Canadiens' biggest weakness right now and while Jakub Dobes is showing some nice things in the NCAA, no goalie really seems to have #1 potential in the organization. The first name mentioned is Carter Hart. Hart had a very good start in the NHL as a youngster. He hasn't progressed as well as some would have liked in Philadelphia, but his potential is still huge and he could be the team's #1 right now. And it must be said that he hasn't had very good teams in front of him either. The second is younger and is Yaroslav Askarov. He's a former first round pick, he's only 20 years old and there's not really a place for him right now in Nashville with Juuse Saros being one of the best goalies in the entire NHL. The potential is huge, again, and the CH would save a few years by going his way rather than drafting a 17 or 18 year old. And then there's Alexis Lafreniere. This is the one of the 4 that makes the least sense, as the Rangers want to win right now. So they won't give away a player who is on their team now for a draft pick that won't help them for a few years. As for the top three, though, it's really interesting. And in any case, it would be worth it. Credit: William Nadeau, HabsAndLNH
