On the latest episode of Tony Marinaro's podcast, Aaron Portzline, a reporter who is well informed about the Columbus Blue Jackets' activities, revealed a major piece of information about Pierre-Luc Dubois.

According to his strong sources within the organization, Portzline claims that Dubois had already expressed his intention to join the Montreal Canadiens, when he asked to be traded by the Blue Jackets in 2020.

He had hoped that Marc Bergevin, the CH's general manager at the time, would acquire him.

Portzline even adds that Dubois was hoping the Habs would make him a hostile offer, even though he was a compensated free agent and his rookie contract with Columbus had just expired in 2020.

"Dubois was expecting, in my opinion, a hostile offer from the Montreal Canadiens."(in 2020)

Dubois thought he was going to get out of Columbus (to join Montreal) and that's when the relationship with the Jackets soured." - Aaron Portzline

Wow, that's a lot of information, and it speaks to his huge interest in the Tricolore. There is no doubt that he will join the Montreal organization sooner or later.

Moreover, Columbus had foreseen the move that summer when Dubois became a restricted free agent, since the team's GM, Jarmo Kekalainen, had freed up a lot of space on the payroll by trading a few defensemen in order to match the Habs' potential hostile offer.

Of course, that offer didn't come, but if the Blue Jackets had planned such a move, it's because there were rumors behind the scenes that Bergevin might try something for Dubois.
