Mathieu Perreault announced his retirement from professional hockey a few days ago, but it took him a while to post a message confirming that he was hanging up his skates. When you read his message, the emotions come to the surface: For the past 13 years, I have been living a dream. After several weeks of reflection and discussion with my wife, Jennilie, and our family, I have decided to retire from the National Hockey League. I love hockey and I am grateful for all that the game has given me and I want to take this moment to thank all of my coaches and teammates, the Washington Capitals, the Anaheim Ducks and the Montreal Canadiens for giving me the chance to finish my career wearing the red and white. To the city of Winnipeg and the Jets organization, thank you for giving me and my family seven amazing years. Winnipeg will always have a special place in our hearts. Finally, to the best fans of the best sport in the world, thank you so much and see you soon! - Mathieu Perreault

Imagine growing up as a Habs fan and having the chance to wear the uniform for the last season of your career. Mathieu Perreault lived it and will obviously always remember it.
