Florida Panthers' star player, Matthew Tkachuk, has revealed that he suffered a serious injury in the Finals.

He disclosed that he had a fractured sternum, caused by a hard hit from Keegan Kolesar in the third game.

Because of his injury, Tkachuk couldn't play in game five. This allowed Vegas to win their first-ever Stanley Cup.

Tkachuk's Journey

Tkachuk had a difficult week dealing with the intense pain from the fractured sternum. He had to rely on his younger brother, Brady, for simple tasks like getting out of bed and getting dressed.

"The next few days were pretty rough...My brother was staying with me, has to get me out of bed, he's getting me dressed...guys tying my skates, putting on my jersey."

It usually takes 8-12 weeks to recover from a fractured sternum. Tkachuk is expected to join the Panthers, fully recovered, for the training camp in September.
