Amidst a frustrating ending to the Edmonton Oilers' season, something else has caught dissatisfaction for their star player.

McDavid Lets His Disappointment Be Known

During the recent NHL Awards Show, NHL icon Connor McDavid described how upset he was following league commissioner Gary Bettman's most recent decision to eliminate commemorative Pride jerseys.

I certainly can't speak for every organization, [but] I know in Edmonton, we were one of the first teams to use the Pride Tape, I know in Edmonton, in our dressing room, we strongly feel hockey is for everybody and that includes the Pride nights and stuff like that. So of course it's disappointing to see.

With that being said, that's certainly way above my decision. It's not my call, but it's disappointing to see. Everyone has their beliefs. I can't speak on those. All I can speak for is myself and us in Edmonton, and I know we strongly support those types of nights.

Disrespect To Minority Communities

As McDavid is a big supporter for being inclusive and promoting communities and groups of minorities, this move by Bettman and the league hits hard to himself, as well as the Oilers franchise.

Although this possibly creates a distraction within the team and McDavid, he will not allow it to cause an effect in his training and offseason preparation, as the Oilers aim to come back stronger next season and go for their long-awaited Stanley Cup victory.
