Kent Hughes has already confirmed that he won't be buying out the hefty contracts of Joel Armia and Mike Hoffman, who have one year left before becoming uncompensated autonomous players. Looking at the comparables, Josh Bailey was traded yesterday to the Chicago Blackhawks with a 2nd round pick, in exchange for future considerations. Chicago then bought out his contract. This means that Mike Hoffman, who is roughly the same player profile and salary, would have to cost a 2nd-round pick as well to be traded. So his value would be in the negative. It would be very surprising for Kent Hughes to make this kind of transaction and part with a 2nd-round pick for nothing. We know that Hoffman was offered on the open market for free, but it's not in the Tricolore GM's mentality to act this way.

TRADE❗️

To CHI
- Josh Bailey (W)
- 2026 2nd Round Pick

🔄

To NYI
- Future Considerations

[per @frank_seravalli]- Daily Faceoff - Fantasy (@DFOFantasy) June 29, 2023
