Money Struggles in Vegas.

image

The reigning Stanley Cup champs are currently sitting $4,000,000 above the cap limit with a lot of big contracts still on the books for this season. With players like Jack Eichel, Alex Pietrangelo, and Mark Stone making over $8,500,000 each and 6 other players making over $5,000,000 it makes it easy for a team to get into cap struggles.

A Possible Solution

There has been talks surrounding Alec Martinez and a potential trade sending him to another city. The 36-year-old Martinez has one year left on his $5,250,000 contract. He has been rejuvenated as a hockey player since joining the Golden Knights in 2019. He collected 32 points in his first season of 53 games in a Vegas uniform. He has been a key member of their defence core since joining the team and played a big part in their recent Stanley Cup victory. Speaking of this recent Stanley Cup victory this was actually Martinez's third time becoming a Stanley Cup Champion with over 750 games of NHL experience he would be a stellar veteran addition to many teams hunting for playoff success.
