Given the physical nature of the game of hockey, things can sometimes get out of hand. Tonight we saw one such incident as over 100 penalty minutes were handed out at the same time in the game between the Panthers and Senators in Ottawa.
Chaos Ensues In Senators Panthers Game
The Tkachuk brothers faced off against each other tonight as the Senators hosted the Panthers in Ottawa. The game started off like any other but by the end of it, things had gotten out of hand. Senators forward Zach MacEwen was given a match penalty for an illegal check to the head on Matthew Tkachuk although the play seemed to resemble roughing more than anything else. Zack MacEwen received a match penalty for an illegal check to the head of Matthew Tkachuk and will face an automatic suspension from the Department of Player Safety, pending official review. #GoSensGo

Referee Hands Out Over 100 Penalty Minutes In One Scrum
By the end of the game each team had ten players who found themselves on the scoresheet for a penalty. Each team had six players receive match penalties late in the 3rd so both teams were playing shorthanded for the last few minutes of the game. Every single player on the ice in FLA/OTT just got a 10 minute misconduct. That was so cool

The final scoresheet looks rather ridiculous.

At least the players who got to finish the game saw the funny side in all of this. Panthers backup goaltender Anthony Stolarz took advantage of all the extra room on the bench to pretend to be a skater.

The calls resulted in a number of funny moments from the game, such as Paul Maurice counting to see how many players he had left to finish the game with.
