Phil Kessel's future in the NHL has been clouded by uncertainty. No one knows where or when or if he is going to sign. Now thanks to a couple of insider reports a couple of these questions have been answered.
Kessel Is Coming Back
According to a report by Elliotte Friedman recently Kessel does want to continue playing. Many wondered if he would want to go out on top after winning a Stanley Cup. In addition to this Kessel is willing to give up his over 1,000 game iron man streak to facilitate being able to play. This has been a big issue that left teams apprehensive reportedly. Friedman on NHL Network reports Phil Kessel has indicated to teams that he is willing to end his streak, understands he may not be an 82-game, everyday player anymore, cause of this more teams are showing interest, could potentially get a PTO.

Since that report came out fans have been waiting to hear about Kessel's next destination.
Kessel Generating Interest
Some in the hockey world thought that Phil Kessel would need to sign a PTO (Player Tryout) to get his next chance. In a new report from Chris Johnston this does not seem likely at this time. It sounds like there's some percolating interest from NHL teams in signing Phil Kessel to a contract for this season. The veteran forward isn't in PTO territory at this juncture.

At 35 years old Kessel likely does not have much NHL time left. He is still currently a solid bottom six option on a scoring line. He also has championship pedigree with 3 Stanley Cups. It will be interesting to see if we get rumblings of what teams are interested in signing Kessel. A young team on the verge of winning a Stanley Cup like the New Jersey Devils could potentially be a good fit. As Read On - House of Hockey - Phil Kessel's Future Leaked by Insider
