The Flames have been off to a miserable start to the 2023-24 season. Other than the San Jose Sharks there are arguable no other team that is more miserable and disappointing to watch night in and night out. Their performances are consistently boring and tough to watch. As a result, the team is reportedly looking at blowing the whole thing up starting with Elias Lindholm.

Here are a few potential destinations for the Flames forward.
Arizona Coyotes

Who would have thought that people would be discussing a potential trade between the Coyotes and Flames in which the Coyotes are the buyer this year? That being said the Coyotes are off to a very respectable 5-4-1 start which is actually good enough for a 3rd place spot in the central division right now. One area of weakness for the team is down the middle though. Currently, their top four centers are Logan Cooley, Barret Hayton, Nick Bjugstad, and Jack McBain. Lindholm would likely slot in as the number two center behind Cooley in this group, likely forcing one of Bjugstad or McBain to the wing or out of the lineup.

Winnipeg Jets

The Jets showed this offseason that they are in full playoff mode. The team had the opportunity to take a step back and retool for a season as Connor Hellebuyck and Mark Scheifele both came into this season on expiring deals. Instead, they were signed to matching seven-year contracts, each carrying an 8.5 million dollar cap hit. With those two locked up long-term, the Jets should be looking to make the playoffs every year. Their 4-4-2 start this season is not the most reassuring start to a season ever but they are just one point back of the Coyotes for that 3rd spot in the Central. The division looks to be relatively weak this year with the Wild, Blues, Predators, and Blackhawks all sporting negative goal differentials. There could be an opportunity for the Jets to pass some teams if they add a player like Lindholm to their forward core.
Colorado Avalanche

The Avalanche just keep going regardless of the injuries that plague them. The team is still without captain Gabriel Landeskog, who likely will be out for the full season if not longer. While the additions of Jonathan Drouin and Ryan Johansen have gone reasonably well, they can always use another talented forward in that lineup. A top six featuring MacKinnon, Rantanen, Nichuskin, Lehkonen, and Lindholm, could be one of the best in the league. Throw in Cale Makar and Jonathan Toews on the back end and once again the Avalanche look to be cup favorites. They are currently in a battle for the top of the central as they sit one point back of the Dallas Stars.
