The renowned insider Eklund from Hockey Buzz reports that the top contenders to trade for Nylander have been identified: the Minnesota Wild, New Jersey Devils, Colorado Avalanche, and New York Islanders.

«4 Teams, all of whom have at one point or another discussed possible trade ideas with Toronto surrounding William Nylander. and one other who just inquired in the last 72 hours.»

But a new contender has emerged and it could change everything .

New Team Joins the Derby

Given their pressing need for a winger and substantial cap space, they might just have the right assets to lure the 27-year-old from Toronto.

»-Toronto did a fine job at staying under the radar temporarily but the word is out that they want very much to move Willy ideally by the opener.»

Eklund indicates this new team to be the Chicago Blackhawks. With the necessary cap space and an evident need for a consistent ally for Connor Bedard, this partnership might just be perfect.

To date, no concrete details about a potential trade have been unveiled by either side. Yet, considering the mutual needs of both teams as the season looms, it's a development worth watching closely.
