Shane Wright's time in Seattle has not been smooth sailing. He's been scratched more often than not (4 straight games), and when he's dressed, he's averaging only 6:51 of ice time.

This has prompted experts to consider the possibility of Wright returning to the OHL for the 2022-23 campaign.

According to Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet, if Wright were to return to the OHL, he would be traded.

The Kingston Frontenacs have applied to host the Memorial Cup in 2024 and are hoping to stock up on young players to be more competitive within the next two years. For them, Wright's return would be a boon.

Here is Friedman's quote from his podcast:

"There's a path for the Kraken and the OHL to be proactive about this. Get Wright to transfer to a team that wants to win this season, where he'll play big minutes in big games. The OHL is winning too. Wright would be a big draw. (One hitch: No player selected in the first round last season can be traded until January 1. My suggestion would be this: if the player agrees, make the deal.) Put Wright on the ice and reap the rewards. Now, and for many years to come in the Pacific Northwest."

With his NHL ice time unfavorable, this could very well be the best move for Wright.
