Sidney Crosby decided to send his message to NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman on All-Star Game weekend. The Penguins captain would like to see the playoff format go back to the way it used to be: Position #1 versus position #8 in the conference standings. Position #2 vs. position #7 in the conference standings. Position #3 vs. position #6 in the conference standings. Position #4 vs. position #5 in the conference standings. It was simple, effective and rewarded the best teams. Today, it looks more like this: Position #1 in each division against the 2 wild card teams. Position #2 of each division vs. position #3 of that same division. According to Georges Laraque, the majority of players agree with Crosby.

Will Bettman listen to the veteran center? To be continued.
