Surprising announcement on the NHL waivers involving a 24-year-old forward

We have just learned that the Nashville Predators have submitted the name of forward John Leonard on the waivers today.

Remember that it is very rare to see players being tendered after the trade deadline, as teams are limited to only three recalls by the end of the season.

Leonard's submission is also surprising, as he is only 24 years old and was once highly sought after coming out of the NCAA.

He had a string of one-plus point-per-game seasons in his last two years in the American college league.

In his NHL career, he has 5 goals and 16 points in 63 games.
