Even though the Habs have a number of very inexperienced defensemen on their roster, they are playing a very good game and that will complicate decisions when the injured players get the all-clear from the doctors. With Joel Edmundson starting to skate again recently, it's safe to assume that he's getting closer and closer to making his return to the game. However, with the performances of Kaiden Guhle, Jordan Harris and Arber Xhekaj, it seems difficult to imagine removing them from the regular lineup. Even the defenseman acquired on waivers at the beginning of the season, Johnathan Kovacevic, is performing well for his coach. As former Tricolore scout Grant McCagg mentions, the name that seems most likely to be left out is surprisingly Chris Wideman. He doesn't have the same veteran status as, say, David Savard, so it's a lot easier to put him on the press box. Also, even though Wideman is an offensive-minded defenseman who is used on the first wave of the power play, he still has no points so far this season. Since he is not known for his defensive play and is not currently producing, he is a prime target to lose his spot in the regular lineup when Edmundson returns.

Credit: GoHabsGo
