This is not the first time we've heard that the Edmonton Oilers and the Montreal Canadiens are in discussions.

However, with the trade deadline just four days away, TSN's Darren Dreger has revealed that negotiations have reportedly resumed between Oilers GM Ken Holland and Kent Hughes.

In fact, Holland is reportedly in talks with the Habs, as well as the Nashville Predators.

His two targets would be Mattias Ekholm for the Preds and Joel Edmundson for the Tricolore.

The rumours between the CH and the Oilers about Edmundson have been going on for many weeks. There are good reasons to believe that if the number 44 had not injured his back, there would probably already be a deal between the two teams.

Let's see if Edmundson will be able to return to the game this week. The Habs announced that the 29 year old veteran would be making the trip with the team, and they mentioned that his rehab for a return to the game was progressing well.

This development could greatly help Kent Hughes to conclude a transaction for him in the next few days.

More details will follow.
