The Habs are building one of the most interesting pools of young players in the NHL. Already, after a few years of rebuilding the organization, by adding massive amounts of young talent, we are able to draw a potential picture of the CH lineup in a few years, and there is something interesting to come, with this team. One facet of the game that is likely to be very fun to watch, will finally be their power play. The Habs already have some good elements on their team to be successful there for a long time, with Cole Caufield, Nick Suzuki and Kirby Dach. Add to that Juraj Slafkovsky and possibly, a Kaiden Guhle. However, it is mainly among the Tricolore's prospects that the strike force will be added to this core, already very interesting, for the future of the formation. The arrivals of Lane Hutson and Logan Mailloux will add specific elements that will fill obvious gaps in this aspect of the special units. On the one hand, Hutson's elite vision and exceptional passing skills will allow him to pass the puck like a true quarterback. With all due respect to Jonathan Drouin, the 19-year-old defenseman is on another level in terms of playmaking. Plus, his mobility on the ice keeps opponents on their heels, which opens up a lot of possibilities. For his part, the addition of Mailloux, who is, in addition, a right-handed defenseman, which complements Hutson wonderfully, adds a new dimension to the powerplay, that of a defenseman who can score goals. What made the Washington Capitals great for many years was that the team could count on Alexander Ovechkin, but also defenseman John Carlson, who can also score a ton of goals. Having two offensive threats on the same power play opens up a lot of options for scoring. The Habs' upcoming one, with Caufield and Mailloux, could possibly succeed in the same way as the Capitals' great years. Imagine a first wave of the power play with Cole Caufield and Nick Suzuki on the flanks, Juraj Slafkovsky in front of the net, and Lane Hutson and Logan Mailloux at the blue line, it could really be a flash in the pan in a few years. And I haven't even mentioned the two first round picks of the Canadiens in 2023, in addition to the other youngsters already drafted by the organization, who could all become very high quality additions to the roster.
