To say the least, Jonathan Drouin's time in Montreal wasn't as successful as he'd hoped. The Quebecer has a lot of talent, but he was never able to really find his niche with the Habs. His contract expires at midnight tonight, and Kent Hughes mentioned a few days ago that he hadn't yet made a decision concerning him. According to Renaud Lavoie, Drouin will officially be a free agent in a few hours, and his next contract will be less lucrative. We shouldn't expect him to sign a three-year contract worth $5 million a year, because that's not going to happen. It's no surprise to anyone. I think in Jonathan Drouin's case, we want to go for a one-year deal, with a good team, at a lower salary that will allow him to turn the page on what he experienced with the Montreal Canadiens. - Renaud Lavoie We're in no way trying to find fault or belittle Jonathan here, on the contrary. We wish him the best of luck with a good team that will have the tools to allow him to flourish on the ice.

Hot files overview 🔥 @renlavoietva https://t.co/yPhCeoor2i- TVA Sports (@TVASports) June 29, 2023
