Phillip Danault was thrilled to join the Kings two years ago. However, reality hit him hard and fast. First, we know that his relationship with Marc Bergevin wasn't great. The Kings hired the former CH GM just a few months after acquiring Danault. That was already a slap in the face, and now the signing of Pierre-Luc Dubois is another. We suspected he'd be relegated to the 3rd line, and according to the NHL website, that's exactly what's going to happen. Here's the Kings' projected line-up: Quinton Byfield -- Anze Kopitar -- Adrian Kempe Kevin Fiala -- Pierre-Luc Dubois -- Arthur Kaliyev Trevor Moore -- Phillip Danault -- Viktor Arvidsson Carl Grundstrom -- Blake Lizotte -- Trevor Lewis Mikey Anderson -- Drew Doughty Vladislav Gavrikov -- Matt Roy Tobias Bjornfot -- Brandt Clarke Pheonix Copley Cam Talbot So Danault left Montreal for a top-six and power-play role, something he obviously won't have in the coming seasons with the Kings. Conversely, he would have had plenty of room with the CH for a more offensive role with the changes that have occurred. Let's hope for his sake that he doesn't regret his decision and that he's at peace with the false promises made to him by the Kings.

The Kings will have quite a center line this season, but their defensive third pair could be very inexperienced 👑 #GoKingsGohttps://t.co/TS7HuvyhBM- NHL (@LNH_FR) July 19, 2023
 Credit: gonordiques.com
