We recently learned that four players have been placed on waivers!

Among them, there are two surprises:

Martin Kaut, from the Avalanche at 23, was drafted with the 16th overall pick in 2018 and looked to have a lot of potential in Colorado. He has two goals and three points in just two games in the American Hockey League this season.

Last season, he had 19 goals and 31 points in 46 games. He is definitely a name to watch and could be exactly the kind of player Kent Hughes is targeting right now.

In Edmonton, we have 24 year old Tyler Benson. He was a 32nd overall pick in 2016. He's been rolling at a rate of almost a point per game in the AHL, since 2018. He's talented, but he's never really had a spot for himself until now in the Oilers lineup.

The other two players are the following two veterans: Kevin Rooney in Calgary and Ryan Carpenter in NYR.

With so many injuries on the attack right now in Montreal, it seems realistic to imagine Hughes and Gorton calling for a Kaut or Benson. He could very possibly even replace a Joel Armia or Evgenii Dadonov eventually.

More details to come.
