Marc Bergevin's signing of Tyler Toffoli is undoubtedly one of his best moves. Toffoli has been very solid in Montreal and has exceeded expectations. However, after the arrival of Kent Hughes, the former No. 73 was traded to the Calgary Flames. Toffoli isn't bitter about it, but he admits he enjoyed his stay. We kind of decided that we wanted to give Montreal a chance, and my wife wanted to go. I thought I was going to stay for four years. And after that first season, I thought, 'This is going to be great.' - Tyler Toffoli There's no doubt that getting to the Stanley Cup Final for the first time with your new team is pretty special. But Toffoli and his wife fell in love with the city at first sight. And let's not forget that he has forged some great friendships with current CH players. Webby [Shea Weber] got hurt and had to quit. And so did Pricer [Carey Price]. It was like the worst thing that could have happened. [...] I had good trade value and they made the decision to trade me. But we enjoyed our stay in Montreal. [...] The city is great. It was nice to walk around and, as I said, my wife loved it. We walked everywhere, every day, all over Old Montreal and Griffintown. - Tyler Toffoli The forward will now begin the final year of the contract signed by Marc Bergevin in New Jersey. He's joining a dynamic young team, but there's nothing to say he won't return to Montreal afterwards. It's the kind of deal I'd see Kent Hughes make.
