Pretty much everyone in the hockey world expected the Blackhawks to be bad this year. That being said, the young team still needs to learn how to play the right way before they can be successful and tonight Nick Foligno took it upon himself to teach his younger teammates a lesson.

Foligno Gives Blackhawks Rookies Lesson They Will Not Forget

Foligno was visibly upset after the Blackhawks lost to the Blues 4-2 tonight. HIs frustration seemed to stem more from the lack of effort than the final score though. He noted that the team needs to figure out what it takes to win and consistently give that effort if they are going to be successful. They cannot simply shrug, and move on to the next game. That kind of culture creates losing teams.

«We're just one win, one loss, one win, one loss. It's a frustrating road to be on. But we have to understand why we're in it.»

Foligno Becomes Honorary Captain Of Blackhawks

Fans have noticed the veteran presence Foligno has brought to this team. His interview tonight was particularly revealing, showing that he is captain material even if he does not have the "C" on his Jersey.

Without wearing a «C» Nick Foligno is without question the Captain of this #Blackhawks team

This is great stuff from the non-C wearing «Captain» of this locker room

The 36-year-old certainly has many of the qualities NHL teams look for when they are assigning their captain. While the Blackhawks are in a state of transition it makes sense that they do not have a true captain, but it is clear who is a leader in the locker room.
