Zdeno Chara Sets Another Milestone Even After Retirement

Boston sports fans were delighted to hear that former Bruins defenseman, Zdeno Chara, has taken on a new challenge by running the Boston Marathon.

The towering athlete, who stands at an impressive 6'9", is known for his impressive strength and skill on the ice. However, he's proven that his athleticism extends beyond the hockey rink as he prepared and indeed did tackle the legendary marathon. Not only did he complete it, but he did so while sporting bib #3333. Chara wore number 33 playing in the NHL.

Chara has always been one to push himself to new heights, both in his personal life and his athletic career. After spending 14 seasons with the Bruins, Chara made the decision to leave the team and sign with the Washington Capitals but has always remained a Bruins great and a Boston legend.

Chara has been training rigorously for the marathon, which takes place on Patriots' Day every April. He's been documenting his training on his Instagram account, sharing photos of himself running through the snowy streets of Boston and giving updates on his progress.

For Chara, running the Boston Marathon is more than just a personal challenge. He's also using the opportunity to raise money for the Special Olympics, an organization that is close to his heart. Chara has been a longtime supporter of the organization, and his participation in the marathon is a way for him to give back and make a difference in the lives of individuals with intellectual disabilities.
