We recently learned that some serious allegations have been made on an OHL team that could once again cast a shadow over a Junior Canadian Hockey team.
Investigation Launched into Sudbury Wolves After Allegations of Placing a Bounty on an Opponent
According to a new reoprt, the Sudbury Wolves are under investigation after they were accused of having placed a bounty on an opponent. Jeff Marek reported that in a recent game against the Barrie Colts, Kashawk Aitcheson, defenseman for the Colts, landed a dangerous but legal hit on Wolves' Nathan Villeneuve. No penalty was called on the play, and Aitcheson was forced the drop the gloves against Villeneuve's teammate. The Wolves and the Colts met again a few days later. The team decided to scratch Aitcheson after concerning informations came out. It was revealed that the Wolves players wanted to retaliate for his hit on Villeneuve and injure him. Here's what Marek wrote about this: During a Sudbury/Barrie game on Jan. 18, Colts defenceman Kashawn Aitcheson delivered a hard, but legal, hit to Wolves forward Nathan Villeneuve. There was no penalty on the play. Aitcheson then fought one of Villeneuve's teammates, Nolan Collins. The two teams played again three days later, but Barrie did not dress Aitcheson. According to those sources, word reached the Colts about the possibility of a bounty being placed on Aitcheson, so the organization made a decision not to play him.

Hockey players often make their own justice on the ice. It's always unfortunate when things go too far, especially in junior hockey. We hope for a swift and fair ending to this story.
