The Judge presiding over the case involving Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau's case just released new details including eye witness accounts of what actually happened.

Its been more than two weeks now since Johnny and Matthew were tragically taken away from us far to early. The death of the brothers sparked a huge outpouring of support from hockey fans around the world especially in the case of Johnny, who will be remembered as the star player who chose to play in Columbus. Countless tributes have been made to the men that still bring tears to the eyes of many fans.

As we continue to mourn the loss of life, we now must look forward. We must get justice for Johnny and Matthew, who did nothing wrong and did not deserve this fate. Luckily, John Higgins, the man responsible for their death appears to be set to go to jail for a long time as some of the evidence in his trial has been revealed. The judge presiding over the case read some eye witness testimony that is very incriminating of Mr. Higgins.

"Mr. Higgins is observed by one of the operators driving at an extremely high rate of speed. She indicated that she was doing 55 in a 50 and she observed Mr. Higgins vehicle coming behind her at a high rate of speed.

According to the police reports, the witness in that vehicle witnessed Mr. Higgins accelerate then get back almost tailgating her on her bumper, slowing down, continuing to accelerate at which point she moved slightly to the left to avoid these young men who were out riding their bikes.

Mr. Higgins chose to go around her and not only did he go around her but he saw the next vehicle which he thought was trying to prevent him from passing. So he drove once again aggressively, back into the right lane and onto the shoulder where he struck the two cyclists obviously resulting in their death."

To avoid confusion, I want to address the first part of this statement. The eye witness self reported that she was going 55 miles per hour in the 50 zone. Then she says she saw Higgins' vehicle approaching her at a far greater speed. As such, it can be assumed that Mr. Higgins was going far faster than 55 miles per hour just moments before the accident. We do not know how fast he was going when he hit the brothers, but it was likely just over 55 miles per hour based on this testimony.

In her statement, the Judge made a scathing comment about Mr. Higgins, noting that it seems very likely that he can never be trusted to be behind the wheel of a motor vehicle ever again. Hopefully, this will not matter though, as he won't be needing a car in jail.

"Clearly he indicated that he didn't even see them. His operation was so impaired at that time that he didn't even see these two young men on their bikes, driving safely on the roadway, where they were being passed safely by other vehicles. Due to his aggressiveness, due to his impatience, he struck these two... that gives the court serious concern as to whether Mr. Higgins can be on the roadway in any shape or form in a motor vehicle."

Please remember that driving under the influence is a very serious crime. Not only are you putting your own life at risk, but you are endangering countless other drivers and pedestrians on the road. In the year 2024, with services like Lyft and Uber, there is no need for drunk driving. Be responsible and get home safe. One bad choice can not only have fatal consequences for other people around you, but it can also ruin your life if not worse.
