Wayne Gretzky and his family issued an official statement on Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau's tragic deaths.

Following the immense tragedy of Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau's passing, nearly everyone in the hockey community has been paying their respects to the family and the legacy left by the Columbus Blue Jackets forward.

His wife shared a heartfelt post on Instagram, thanking him for the best years of her life:

"Thank you for the best years of my life. Despite losing you, I am still the luckiest girl in the world to have been yours. I love you so, so much. You were perfect. Some days it felt too good to be true. I love every single thing about you. You are my forever, and I can't wait to be with you again. I love you so much forever and ever."

"Janet, myself, and our entire family are devastated at this senseless tragedy. We are sending our love, thoughts, and prayers to the Gaudreau family. We lost two great young men who were loved and a huge presence both on and off the ice. Johnny and Matthew, you will always be remembered and missed."
