Today reports are confirming that the Dallas Stars have traded former first round selection Ty Dellandrea to the San Jose Sharks in a major deal.

The Dallas Stars are looking to reload their roster heading into the 2024-25 NHL season. Today they made progress towards that goal by offloading 24-year-old former first-round pick Ty Dellandrea to the San Jose Sharks for a 4th round pick.
TRADE: #SJSharks acquire Ty Dellandrea from #TexasHockey for a 2025 4th round pick (WPG)

The move comes after a pair of seasons where Ty Dellandrea was unable to work himself further up the lineup in Dallas. When he was drafted out of the OHL's Flint Firebirds it was projected Ty Dellandrea would be a top-six two-way center. To date only his defense has translated as he struggled to put up points this season with just 9 in 42 games.
The fresh start for Ty Dellandrea will send him to the San Jose Sharks who are in need of young NHL talent. He could potentially find a top-six role there and rediscover some of his offense along the way.
For the Dallas Stars, this opens a roster spot for potential prospects like Maverik Bourque to find more playing time. The Stars could also look for a veteran center to fill in their bottom six.
Either way this trade gives both the teams and the player involved what they need heading into the 2024-25 season and should be exciting for both sides.
