Today a longtime NHL veteran has decided that this season will be his last. Anaheim Ducks forward Jakob Silfverberg has decided that he will retire from the NHL at the end of this season.

The Anaheim Ducks made the announcement official with a post on X celebrating the illustrious career of the Swedish forward.

A special player and humble leader in our locker room and community throughout his 11 seasons in Anaheim.

Congratulations on a great career, Silfvy!

Jakob Silfverberg will retire from the NHL at the conclusion of this season.

In his 13-year NHL career, Jakob Silfverberg spent all but two seasons with the Anaheim Ducks. After being drafted in the 2nd round of the 2009 NHL Draft he would go on to play for the Ottawa Senators for two seasons and 48 total games. During his Ducks tenure, he would play the remainder of his 817 total games.

During his career, Jakob Silfverberg was considered a solid middle-six forward who brought effort and energy every night. In his best season in 2016-17, Jakob Silfverberg put up 49 points in 79 games.

As Jakob Silfverberg transitions into the next phase of his life beyond playing hockey we wish him all the best.
