Calgary Flames fans have joined together to honor and remember the former Flames player Johnny Gaudreau, following his tragic passing last night. Last night in the state of New Jersey, <a href='https://www.prohockeyrumors.com/2024/08/johnny-gaudreau-matthew-gaudreau-pass-away.html' class='lien_marqueur' target='_blank' rel='noopener'>Johnny Gaudreau</a> was bicycling with his brother Matthew when tragedy struck. A drunk driver struck them from behind and ended the life of the brothers on impact in a heartbreaking accident. A rather somber ceremony took place today in Calgary, as Flames fans and the citizens of the city decided to pay respects to the former Flames player. Regardless of the team one supports, nobody ever deserves to face such an ordeal in life. This response by the Flames fans captures the depth of respect and humanity they have for Johnny and the Gaudreau family. A fourth-round pick of the Calgary Flames in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, Johnny Gaudreau spent nine seasons with the franchise before signing with Columbus as a free agent in 2022. In 763 NHL games, he tallied 243 goals and 500 assists for 743 points. Known lovingly to many as Johnny Hockey, Johnny Gaudreau will be sorely missed by the fans of the Flames and indeed the whole hockey community. May he rest in peace.
