The Utah Hockey Club were in a mood to mess around with the Chicago Blackhawks fans and even went as far as bringing in NBA legend Michael Jordan in the mix. The infamous 1998 Game 6 shot by Michael Jordan won the Chicago Bulls their sixth NBA championship, and many felt he pushed off on Utah Jazz's Byron Russell before making the shot. Even decades later, Utah fans have yet to let it go. In 2024, with smartphones and social media in full swing, these long-time Jazz supporters found a way to get one over on Blackhawks fans in a very clever manner.

The excitement in this season opener of the Blackhawks versus Utah's new hockey team was palpable. Wanting finally to turn the corner on a tough season, the Blackhawks were looking forward to hopefully having their offseason signings augment their chances. As far as fans were concerned on both sides, they were abuzz with anticipation about how these revamped teams would do. It was a historical night in Utah as they played their first-ever home game of the NHL in the Delta Center. The owner, Ryan Smith, had brokered a deal with former Arizona Coyotes owner Alex Morello and NHL commissioner Gary Bettman to bring this team into existence. Already loyal, the fans came in droves, packing the house, and making the building a sea of energy.

The game, unfortunately, did not exactly go the Blackhawks' way. Even with some stellar play from stars like Taylor Hall and rookie sensation Connor Bedard, they fell 5-2 to Utah. Though the pairing was able to create some exciting chances, Utah's goalie Connor Ingram proved tough to beat. With those things in mind, the Blackhawks look to rebound into their three-game road trip through Canada, starting with the Winnipeg Jets on October 11th. It is expected that this new journey will kick off a stronger run for the team.
