After yet another loss the Edmonton Oilers are searching for their first win of the season and captain Connor McDavid spoke about what has gone so wrong.

Things have gone from bad to worse for the Edmonton Oilers after dropping another game last night. This time losing to the Calgary Flames in the Battle of Alberta. The Oilers would actually start the game out well taking an early lead on a goal from new Oiler Jeff Skinner who signed with the team in free agency.

After taking the lead things went downhill later in the game. The Flames would tie the game up in the second before completely taking over in the third and tallying three goals.

After the game the media gathered to once again ask the players what has gone so wrong to this point. Earlier this week forward Corey Perry put the blame on the Edmonton Oilers' compete level. After last night's embarrassment captain Connor McDavid has some thoughts of his own.

After the loss, Connor McDavid was asked about his thoughts on the game and the Oilers' overall play early in the season. He began by echoing Corey Perry's comments about the compete level and ability to win puck battles.

We are getting beat in a lot of battles. We're getting beat in a lot of different ways, lamented Oilers captain Connor McDavid, who had one lonely assist and was on the ice on two key Calgary goals - directly at fault for one of them.

The Edmonton Oilers are not the only team to struggle with their compete level and figure things out. Connor McDavid's next comments are a bit more concerning as he says the Oilers group is struggling with the pucks on their sticks as well. This is something that usually is no issue for the talented Edmonton Oilers team but hasn't clicked yet.

Puck play has been bad all over, McDavid said. Guys fumbling it and not handling passes, (passes) in the air, passes behind guys It's just not good enough in terms of the puck play. When you are not clean with the puck it's tough to get the offence.

Ultimately it hasn't been good enough, McDavid said. Up and down the lineup, myself first and foremost. Everybody could be better and everybody will be better.

Normally at an otherworldly level, Connor McDavid has struggled offensively so far this season for his standards. Through 3 games McDavid has just 2 points and is a minus five.

Heading into the rest of the NHL season Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers will need to find their chemistry and compete level. Head coach Kris Knoblauch will also have to keep preaching his team being hard on pucks and going to the high-scoring areas of the ice. If they don't then we could see the Oilers struggle to get into the Stanley Cup Playoffs this season.
