Timothy Liljegren has been at the center of a lot of trade speculation to begin the season and today Craig Berube addressed what the plan is going forward.

Things have not worked out so far this season between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Timothy Liljegren. The Maple Leafs former first-round pick has struggled to carve out a role under new head coach Craig Berube. This led to a trade request from Liljegren who reportedly wants a change of scenery.

Since this announcement was made regarding a potential trade involving Timothy Liljegren there has been a ton of discussion about where he is heading next. A story yesterday revealed five teams who are reportedly looking to trade for Liljegren.

With a trade likely on the way for Timothy Liljegren Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube spoke about the situation for the first time. Despite struggling to find a place in the Toronto Maple Leafs everyday lineup it seems as though Timothy Liljegren might finally get an opportunity to showcase his talents for Craig Berube and the new coaching staff.

Craig Berube confirms Timothy Liljegren will draw into the lineup on Wednesday

In a new interview after this morning's practice, Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube talked about the lineup for Wednesday's contest against the Los Angeles Kings. According to Craig Berube, we likely will see Timothy Liljegren make his debut after having a good week of practice.

Whether this debut is to showcase Timothy Liljegren for trades or an actual opportunity to earn a place in the lineup going forward is unclear. Timothy Liljegren is coming off of one of the best seasons of his career but overall has struggled to live up to expectations.

Timothy Liljegren came into the Toronto Maple Leafs organization as a first-round pick in the 2017 NHL Draft. After two seasons with the Toronto Marlies Timothy Liljegren was called up to the NHL. Since making the Maple Leafs full-time Timothy Liljegren has not provided the offensive success that he had shown at every other level.

With Craig Berube taking over Timothy Liljegren can start fresh and with a good performance maybe find a way to stick in the lineup. If he does not find a way to separate himself then Brad Treliving might be picking up the phone to ship out Timothy Liljegren sooner rather than later.
