Today a new report has linked the Edmonton Oilers to former Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman John Klingberg who has been negotiating a comeback in recent weeks. Last season, Klingberg struggled with several injuries while playing with the Toronto Maple Leafs. These injuries cost him most of the 2023-24 season and significantly clouded his future in the NHL until this week. When healthy Klingberg is a fantastic offensive defenseman putting up anywhere from 40-65 points in a season. Unfortunately, Klingberg has not been fully healthy in several years, and at 32 years old staying healthy is a challenge. If Klingberg does sign with the Oilers finding ways to use his immense offensive talent while limiting his overall minutes will be paramount if the Oilers want to get the most out of him.
