Evander Kane was expected to be headed to LTIR ahead of the new NHL season, but that may not be the case after all according to their General Manager. The Edmonton Oilers have some huge decisions to make ahead of the 2024/25 season, and even after deciding not to match the offer sheets given to Philip Broberg and Dylan Holloway, the job doesn't get easier for new General Manager Stan Bowman. One of the biggest situations the team need to figure out is the status of controversial forward Evander Kane, who many expected to start the 2024/25 season on LTIR. However, that may now not be the case following this comment from Bowman in a recent interview; The way we're situated right now, we are going to be able to start the season with [Kane] not being on [LTIR]

This leads many to believe the team may either look to move Kane ahead of the season or potentially slot him back into the lineup with questionable health, with both moves carrying plenty of risk. There's still plenty of time for this situation to change ahead of the season as the Oilers look to chase their first Stanley Cup since 1990, but if these comments are anything to go by, expect plenty more big moves to be made by new GM Stan Bowman in the very near future.
