The Edmonton Oilers have re-signed forward Adam Henrique in free agency today, bringing back their trade deadline acquisition on a two-year deal.

TSN reporter Ryan Rishaug was the first to report that the Oilers appeared to be bringing Henrique back. Luckily, he did not appear to jump the gun, as other reporters have since confirmed this news.
Sounds like Henrique will be back with the Oilers.

Darren Dreger followed up not only be confirming that the Oilers had secured Henrique, but he also revealed the details of the contract. It will be for two years and carries a 3 million dollar cap hit. That is quite the deal for the Oilers as Henrique was one of their better depth forwards from the trade deadline onward. He had 9 points with the team in the regular season, and 7 in the playoffs, including 4 goals.
Henrique returns to Edmonton on two year deal at $3 mil per. He was offered more by other clubs. Edmonton circled back and closed.

Fans seem to mostly agree that this is a great deal for the Oilers.
Wow... Bro got fleeced by Edmonton. And he has to live in Alberta 😭😭😭

The only thing that could worry fans about this deal is the fact that Henrique is already 34 years old. There could certainly be a good deal of age-related decline over the course of the next two seasons. That being said, 3 million dollars is an easy enough cap hit to move, should things come to that. As such, this is a relatively low risk contract for the team. Furthermore, the Oilers appear to largely be keeping their team together, which bodes well for them as they did make the finals this year. Perhaps they will get back there again next season, possibly even winning it all.
