Reports have emerged confirming that the Edmonton Oilers have signed Jeff Skinner to a new contract. NHL insider Frank Seravalli was the first to report that Skinner was on the move to Edmonton. However, he did not reveal the terms of the deal immediately. Sources say #Oilers are landing forward Jeff Skinner.

Luckily, fellow insider Elliotte Friedman quickly noted that it was a one-year contract for the veteran forward, coming in at a cap hit of 3 million dollars. Jeff Skinner 1 x $3M Edmonton

By all accounts, this is a steal for oil town. Oilers fans should not expect Skinner to have a positive impact in his own zone, but the level of offense and goal-scoring that be brings should more than make up for his defensive deficiencies, especially when he is only coasting the team 3 million dollars against the cap. Should Skinner have a bounce back season, this could be viewed as one of the best bargain contracts in the league by the end of next season. Jeff Skinner, signed 1x$3M by EDM, is an all-offence scoring winger. Shoot-first player, great finisher, slow foot speed but plays off the rush, very little defensive involvement, forechecking, or physicality. Pure skill player. #LetsGoOilers

Be sure to stay tuned to see what other moves the Oilers may make this summer.
